چکیده
Abstract Background This study aims to report the rate of occult lymph node metastasis during elective neck dissection in clinically and radiologically negative (cN0) for patients offered total laryngectomy as either primary or salvage treatment. We also compare complications recurrence after laryngectomy. A retrospective review treated a single teaching hospital UK between 2004 2020 was performed. collected following patient information: age, sex, TNM staging, tumour location laterality, treatment received if recurrent, preoperative imaging, operative details dissection, pathology results, postoperative complications, recurrence. Inclusion criteria are follows: squamous cell carcinoma cN0 neck. Exclusion second head neck, because dysfunctional larynx, previously performed dissection. Results Of 105 included patients, 66 (63%) had surgery 39 (37%) were surgery. All cases group Thirty-six The 35% (23/66) 5.6% (2/36) groups, respectively. There no difference overall complication both although specific incidence pharyngocutaneous fistula higher compared with group, 14% vs 7.5%. Conclusions conclude that is indicated due high metastasis, our series. Conversely, from data setting, very low at (2/36). impact on survival not known. decision over may be made more judiciously an individual basis setting.
